School of Nursing

Nursing programs come in a variety of types to suit the needs for everyone who wants to study nursing. These unique programs are designed around the schedule of the each student so that each one can meet success in the manner that suits each individual best.  Nursing programs consist of a combination of coursework and clinical experiences. The coursework may consist of basic courses—such as biology and anatomy- and core coursework that may consist of pharmacology and physiology. The courses that students take in nursing school will teach them about sterile dressing changes, inserting catheters, medication administration, physical examinations, and other vital nursing skills.

As part of our commitment to our community of Cameroon and the world, the School of Nursing offers certificate degree programs which can be offered to anyone with a desire to learn.  We believe in open access to anyone with a willingness to learn.  Our certificate programs are offered through the School of Vocational Training and administred by the the School of Nursing. 

 

Our 30-hour certificate as a Nursing Assistant is designed to prepare professional individuals to collaborate with health care teams in hospitals, assisted living centers, and in individual patients’ homes to work on the front lines of the health care field by tending to patients’ most important needs.

The programs of nursing/midwifery integrate theories and concepts from liberal education into generalist nursing practice and apply leadership concepts, clinical expertise, and decision-making skills in the provision of safe, evidenced-based nursing care. Also, student will analyze health data and research findings, and utilize patient care and information technology to inform the delivery of high-quality, safe care and integrate knowledge of health care policy, finance, and regulatory environments to influence change in the health care system to improve health of diverse populations. Our students will be able to communicate effectively with patients and interprofessional health care teams through a variety of verbal and written approaches to optimize health outcomes, while engaging in ethical and professional practice to promote advocacy, collaboration, and social justice.
